Estonians are featured in this book about espionage in Canada when the authors talk about an event where the spy catchers pretend to know less than they actually do.
They talk about a similar case of a Russian SVR (Russian external spy agency, successor to the KGB) agent in Madrid, Spain with a business cover, cover named Jesus Suares. He was finally uncovered in 2007 by western secret agents when he tried to corrupt an Estonian bureaucrat and the secret agents brought him under surveillance until they had enough evidence to arrest him and see who he could lead them to.
This book is about espionage in Canada. The book came out very recently and already it has been sold out by this weekend. The book paints a very scary picture.
The authors are Fabrice de Pierrebourg who is an award winning investigative journalist and author of fraudulent telemarketing to terrorism. Michel Juneau-Katsuya is a former career operative with CSIS where he was Asia-Pacific bureau chief among other functions. He now comments on security related issues for CTV, CBC and Radio-Canada and other news sources.
