Northern Birch Credit Union – We are here to help

While the Ontario government has declared a state of emergency and is closing all non-essential businesses, we want you to know that credit unions have been declared an essential service that will continue to operate.

We are committed to helping our members get through this difficult time. We are ready to support you and discuss options to help reduce financial stress caused by the current environment. Every situation is different, so please reach out to us. We are here to help.

Branch Visits
We ask that you do your part in helping ensure a safe and healthy environment and “plank the curve” by staying at home and completing as much of your banking as you can remotely. As much as we like to see you, we ask that you visit a branch only for urgent or essential matters that cannot be completed online, at an ATM or by phone with one of our staff members.

We continue to follow government and public health guidelines and encourage all our members to do the same. Please call us before visiting a branch, as we have remote alternatives to almost all your banking needs.

We recently reduced our branch hours. Please visit our website to see a full listing. We encourage you to continue to monitor our website for all up-to-date information.

Ways to Bank
Now is a great time to get set up with remote banking options. If you are not currently set up, we can help you get a debit card or online access over the phone. Call us today.

Mobile Banking App
The Northern Birch Credit Union mobile banking app is available for both Android & Apple devices. It gives you access to your accounts from the palm of your hand. You can deposit cheques, send and receive Interac e-Transfers and do almost every other type of daily banking activity. Search for it in your app store today.

Online Banking
Online banking is a great remote banking alternative, allowing you access to your accounts immediately online. Pay bills, schedule transfers, order cheques, create stop payments, and much more. If you’re not already set up, we are happy to do so for you over the phone. Just give us a call in-branch at 416-465-4659 for the Estonian House branch and 416-922-2551 for the Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre branch.

Over the Phone
Many of the transactions you typically make in person can be done over the phone. Call our in-branch team today to check your balances, pay bills, transfer between accounts, order cheques and more. Give us a call with any questions or concerns you may have.

Debit Card
Our debit cards give you access to thousands of surcharge-free ATMs Canada-wide. Visit an ATM to deposit or withdraw cash, deposit cheques, make transfers and more. Visit our website to find a no-fee ATM closest to you.

Other transactions
Maybe you need to send a wire transfer or make a deposit to your registered investment plan. Please call us before visiting the branch, as we have many procedures in place to help you achieve your banking remotely.
Your Money is Protected

Your deposits are insured up to $250,000 automatically by the Deposit Insurance Corporation of Ontario (DICO), if they are held outside a registered plan. That’s $150,000 more than the big banks offer. Coverage is unlimited if the investment is in a registered product (RRSP, RRIF, TFSA).

Healthy Environment
We are adapting every day. Our front-line staff continue to be there for you, but we continue to ask you to limit your interactions to phone calls, emails and other remote options. If you need to visit a branch, please only do so if you are in good health and are not experiencing any symptoms. If you have travelled outside of the country or have been in contact with others who have, please call us instead – there’s lots of ways we can help.

We’re here for you
We continue to be here to offer the banking services you expect and the flexibility you need. We will get through this together. Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.
